To mark the start of the Chinese New Year on 8th February, we’re holding an oriental feast, starting from 8pm with delicious food, traditional decorations and fire crackers to ward off evil spirits. Come and join us wearing something red to encourage good fortune and wealth in 2016.
The Chinese New Year is actually a Lunar New Year and was traditionally celebrated to honour deities and ancestors. It is a time to bring together families at a reunion dinner, clean the house to sweep away any bad luck and decorate the house with red decorations for good fortune, happiness, wealth and longevity. 2016 is the year of the Monkey, like 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992 and 2004. If you’re born in any of those years, then you’re supposed to be witty and intelligent and have a magnetic personality. Is that you? Unfortunately for any of you born in a monkey year, this year is supposed to be unlucky, but by celebrating in the right way and doing everything to ward off the evil spirits then you should ensure the best luck possible.
As we like to monkey around and have lots of fun at The Urban Villa, plus we’ll take any excuse for a party, we’re going to be celebrating Chinese New Year with a special supper and you can come and join in!
Enjoy a three course oriental feast from 8pm on Monday 8th February including a selection of sushi rolls, dumplings and rice cakes to start, yummy red curry prawns with basmati rice for main course and sticky toffee and sesame bananas to give a naughty but nice end to this special meal. Our stunning Mirador Terrace will be beautifully decorated with lanterns, dragons and all the symbols of good luck, with the back drop of Marbella’s twinkling lights and the Mediterranean – perfect.
This delicious meal costs 39€ per person including a taster of sake and you can also add specially chosen cava to be paired with the sushi. It’s a great way to sample some wonderful Chinese, Japanese and Thai delicacies and celebrate the New Year Chinese style, whilst hopefully attracting some good luck at the same time.
Our top tip for good luck is wearing red underwear and new clothes – it’s supposed to bring good fortune, so surely it’s worth a try. No monkey business for the year of the monkey though! 😉
